MARUXIÑA
PROJECT: Book Cover
CLIENT: Elisa Lopez
YEAR: 2023
The artwork created for the book cover is conceived as an intimate yet universal visual tribute to motherhood. Through a lush, symbolic composition, the project invites the reader to recognize not only the story of a specific mother, but also their own. Memory, family anecdotes, and traditional recipes act as narrative threads, preserving an emotional and cultural heritage that must be safeguarded so it can endure beyond time and be passed down through generations.
The book is rooted in the life and experience of Elisa López Pardavila, born in Pontevedra, Spain, in February 1969, and a long-time resident of Veracruz, Mexico. Her life unfolds between two territories connected by the Atlantic Ocean: coastal Galicia and the Gulf of Mexico. The traditions, seasonal ingredients, and culinary rituals of both regions merge naturally within the visual language of the cover.
